As 2011 gets underway, the Banks Crossing Saddle Club is reflecting on the fun and achievements of the last year and making plans for the upcoming months. Our focus is surrounded on having fun with our horses, supporting our community, and reconnecting with past members along with recruiting new ones. The club provides a family friendly atmosphere with acceptance of all levels of riders and a variation in breeds of horses. We plan activities that do not require owning a horse as well as monthly events that include our equine companions.
Last year the BCSC ventured on monthly trail rides around the area as well as a few camping weekends. We held two family fun days at the Banks County horse arena and took a trip to the movie theater to see “Secretariat”. The club hosted two fundraisers, the annual vet day in the spring and the “Horsey and More” sale in the fall. With the monies raised the club was able to sponsor 15 kids at Christmas and provide school supplies for Family Connections of Banks County as well as support the local drill team. We even won a second place ribbon in the Maysville Fall Leaf Festival Parade for our float and riders. The annual Christmas party full of good food and festive fun rounded out the year.
We have missed many of you and hope that the attached list of upcoming events will spur your interest in the Banks Crossing Saddle Club. We would love to welcome you back as a member and see you out on the trail as well as at a monthly meeting or fundraiser. The club is looking for new places to ride, fresh fundraising ideas, and friendly faces! Check us out on facebook, take a look at the new website (www.bankscrossingsaddleclub.webs.com), or contact me if you have any questions. We hope to hear from you and see you soon!
